Statement of Thanks from Rep. Darlene Taylor

Let me begin by saying a Big Thank you to District 173 for allowing me to represent you in the Georgia General Assembly over the last 2 years. It has been my honor to serve as your State Representative.

I would like to take this opportunity to offer a special thank you to my family for all of their support and extra efforts. It takes a lot of hard work, patience and forgiveness to get your message out and to run an effective campaign. And to my friends and all of the people of Thomas, Grady and Decatur Counties, your vote of confidence and support throughout this campaign is what made the difference on election day. Without your help and support I would not be here today.

The election is over, but the work is just beginning. Our nation, as well as our state continue to face many serious issues...with more to come. As your representative I pledge to do my best to represent you and to wisely address each and every issue. I do not take this task lightly. As one of the 180 members in the Georgia House, I will tend to the business our state in a fair and just manner.

I close with words that have helped me stay focused and to remember what this office is really about. They come from President Dwight D. Eisenhower, "May we pursue that which is right without self-righteousness. May we know unity without conformity. May we grow in strength without pride in self. May we, in our dealings with all peoples, ever speak truth and serve justice."

Thank you again and God Bless.
